In the Middle Cleanup

It is funny what you find when you are cleaning up your stamp room. My desk has a real nasty habit of piling up so today was the depiling day. I found the front of this card that I had made a few months back. Funny how it looks better today than the day I made it. That cool looking rose stamp isn't really a stamp at all. It is actually the cut off end of a bunch of celery. Isn't that cool? I used a Technique Junkie technique called in the middle.

The other thing I found on my desk while cleaning up was a project that was only half finished. I did an image trade with a friend and my images back to her have been delayed......a LONG time! I thought, Enough is enough!! I finished getting them stamped up and they will go with this card to her.

I hope that you enjoy!

Are you ready for some fun?  This is a blog hop celebrating the release of the newest technique CD from Technique Junkies!  It is the most Glittery, Shiney and Fun CD around.  Read below!

Today, the TJNL Designers are sharing some great artwork from our brand new CD, Shimmer, Glimmer, Sparkle and Shine!   We will be awarding one random hopper with a CD!  Woo Hoo!  Hoppers need to comment on all blogs to be considered in the drawing! Pat (your last stop) will announce the winner on her blog the week following.  If you haven’t started at the beginning of the hop, visit Judy on the Designer’s Blog so as not to miss a thing!

So........are you liking the hop so far?  Beth's Glitter Strips  easel cards were awesome!  What a cool way to add some glitz to your cards.

My card features the technique called Glitter Coloring. I used an Elizabeth Craft sticker for the project and a number of different glitters.  I love the shiney goodness on this!!  The decorated paper, button, stick pin and baker's twine are all from Eclectic Paperie.  This is only one of so many cool techniques you will get.  Wanna see them all?  Go HERE to see the picture index for the entire CD!

Now that you know you want it, make sure you click that little button on my sidebar to get it!!

Are you ready to hop along?  Here is the next stop.........Holly has a couple of samples for you showing Glazed Chipboard and Embossed Stickles!

Tweaked Challenge

Funny........I found this post in my "drafts"!  Even though it is from over 6 months ago.......I'll post anyway!!  Hahahaah

*******************************

I made this card for the challenge over at Splitcoaststampers for the sketch challenge.  The challenge called for a square cards but I really don't make square cards.  Postage is high and they take more paper too!  So, I altered and tweaked the challenge just a little.  I got the patterned paper from the scrap/stamp store in Eugene where I've been teaching and really, really LOVE it!

The little dots on the butterflies are Glitter dots and let me tell you......I LOVE glitter dots.  They are really fun.  The first project I used them on was the 3-D Valentine album that I posted earlier.  I taught that album at one of the class in Eugene.  As I was making it, some of those little dots would literally jump off their release page as I was using my tweezers to move them.  THEN in my class I was watching this lady put her glitter dots on her project.  She was placing them in record speed and NO popping off.  She showed me the tool that she was using and it is now my new FAVORITE tool for glitter dots.  AWESOME!  It is called the Quickstik, the quicker picker upper.  So......if you use pre-stuck jewels and/or stickers, this thing is THE coolest tool around in my opinion!

Okay......here is the card!

For Sale Visitors.

I love people who visit my blog just as much as the next person.  It is fun to see where people are from as well.  BUT because of so many comments being spam (which I moderate), I reluctantly have to put my comments back on to verification.  I had about 15 spam comments just today.  I really don't give a rip about buying drugs anywhere but my local pharmacy.  Nor do I want timeshares or adult entertainment paraphernalia.  Sorry to do it but I must!  Hope you all understand.

On the other hand, it is quite exciting to think you've had a visitor from Peru or some place in Africa!

Let it Snow!

Brrrrrrr.........we have been having weather that's been pretty cold lately.  If the clouds would have been laden with water we would have snow.....but no......    This card's sentiment of "Let It Snow!" is only partially a wish of mine.  I love to see it but really hate to drive in it.  This is a new technique from the Dec/Jan TJ newsletter called Inked Shadows.  It is hard to tell but those snowflakes are punched into the top layer.

Do you have snow where you live?

Inked Resist Kids

My title sounds like these kids just aren't going to get inky!  ;-)  Inked Resist is one of the techniques in the Dec/January 2013 Technique Junkie newsletter.  I've had this stamp for a while and it never saw ink.    The words are  from Stamp camp....... it is a wonderful 12 stamp set with lots of Bible sayings.  I really LOVE it!  The kids......maybe Innovative Stamp Creations OR maybe I Brake for stamps.....not sure.  I'm so bad at labeling them.

The last couple of days have been soooo pretty outside.  We have been fogged in for several days but it has been cold enough that the fog has been freezing on trees and plants.  We went around and took hundreds of photos around the house.  Here are a couple for your enjoyment!  The first flower is Vibunum Bodnantense.  It always blooms all December into January.  The whole bunch of flowers is about 1.5 in in diameter.

Here is some witch hazel.    I love the way the frost 'grew' down from the flowers.

Rhododendron smirnowii has been blooming since Christmas.  I think this frost will pretty much put it away.

Isn't the way the frost is on the leaves just beautiful?

Metallic Fridge

Here is my challenge card for the Hambo Hoedown this week.  We had a cute refrigerator to use with the instructions to use 'leftovers' with it.  My background is made out of recycled foil adhered to cardstock and run through embossing folders then swiped with StazOn pads.  I didn't like the red of the StazOn so I recolored that part with my copics.  The sentiment cut out is a die from Dinamics from My Favorite Things.  The ribbon was a small chunk from another project as well.  I originally thought the instructions were to use metallic....grrrrrr.....good thing it was a piece of leftover foil!

Dilly Beans Valentine

I bought this DARLING digi image from Dilly Beans.  The artwork is all done by Megan Suarez, a really cool gal that I met last summer.  She lives somewhat close to me.   When I saw the sketch challenge for splitcoast stampers, I knew I would use that image!  I hope you enjoy her.  She is colored with copics then touched with a white gel pen.  The background around her was blank but since this was to be a Valentines card, I added the litte hearts.   Thank you, Megan, for the coloring inspiration.  I was almost tempted to put some glitter on her too but let the hearts be the glittery part instead.  CDAC (Crafter's Digital Art Center) Anything Goes Challenge got to see this project too.  They have a lot of great challenges for those wanting to use digis AND you often get a free digi when you participate.  Go HERE to see all about it.

When Mojo hides.

Here is a little advice on what to do when Mojo is hiding from you! Tonight when I went into the Stamp Hole to create this card, I had NO idea what to do. So, I thought I would tackle the problem with a little different approach. I grabbed the first TJ technique idea that I saw in my room. It happened to be this Leaf on which I had used the BigShot Hammer technique. From there I went to my trusty box of backgrounds and found the Ghostly Spatters background. Add the papers, ribbon and a little edge distressing and you have created!! Mojo may have been hiding but I got my assignment done in spite of it! enjoy!

Hambo Hoedown fun

Hambo has a fun challenge each week on their blog "Hambo Hoedown".  This week (since I participated last week), I got the Penguin snowball digi stamp set for FREE!  Click HERE to go to their challenge.  The challenge this week was to use the Penguin as well as felt somewhere on your card.  It IS hard to see in my picture but I really did use felt.  It is the tag cut from a Spellbinder's die behind the sentiment.  In real life it gives a nice warm feel to a cool blue card.  The penguin was colored with copics...naturally!

The crystal hat pin, buttons, baker's twine, and patterned paper are from Eclectic Paperie

On a personal note.......we have been busy at home planning on how to survive once Ray is home after March 7th.  He took a severance package at work.  He has suffered under a bad boss for two years.  He isn't sure what he wants to do next....I guess we will figure that out.........soon I hope!  Finances will be really hard...........hope another job shows up sometime this year!

One of my resolutions

So....one of my new year's resolution is to participate in more challenges.  Last year I think I only had 3 or 4....maybe!  So I'm pretty sure that I can achieve this resolution!

Here is my first one.  This is for the SCS Sketch challenge as well as the Hambo Hoedown Challenge AND a personal challenge for a baby card for my neice in law.  Her shower is tomorrow.  The image is from Hambo as well as the color choices.  The layout is for the sketch challenge at SCS.

Baby was colored with copics.

Special thanks to Gina K for letting me know IE was having troubles letting you upload photos.  Used Firefox!  You rock, Gina!
