My art class with Megan

I signed up for an art class with Megan Suarez....what FUN!!  If you are interested, see the Whimsy Girl badge to the side.  Here are the girls I drew and colored from the first two lessons.  The next two work with the girls in journals and on canvas.  She taught us how she draws her Whimsey girls and then we put our own spin on them.  enjoy!!

Thank you, Christine!

The other day I got the Spellbinders Imperial Gold Elements One die set in the mail.  It is just so yummy!!!  I can't wait to play with it.  ;-)  I want to send a special thank you to Christine, over at Scraptime.  This was some blog candy that I had won from some of her CHA spoils.  Tickled I am!!  How do you like all the washi tape on the envelope........sweet!

Happy Valentine's Day

Here is a super happy picture for you.  I watch my two youngest grandchildren on Mondays and Thursdays.  I took this picture today because Braelyn had the cutest Valentine's day sleeper on.  I thought that you would enjoy it as well.  Zander wanted his picture taken too so I got them both to smile at once (amazing feat!)

Then while Braelyn napped, I finished up the cards for the grandkids.........should have had it done earlier but I guess I just thrive on stressful deadlines!

The images are from Sweet N Sassy Stamps....Korin has drawn these adorable bears she calls Rhubarb.  They are colored with Copic.

Then I finished up my card for my hubby, Ray.  This freebie image from Sassy Studio was really fun and I knew he would like it!  I even colored her with grey hair like mine!  Hahaha!  The red halographic paper behind her is pretty cool....it changes the size of the hearts when you move it.  The glitter on her skirt visually messes with the nice coloring underneath.  Copic colored.

Copic Class

I will be teaching a copic class at my home in the near future.  If you are local and are interested, please let me know!  I'd like to try and find two more people for the class.  Cost is $20 and includes a 25 page booklet I created.  Markers are not necessary to take the class.  You will be using the class markers.

More distressing news!

Well..........news of another card that is!  This card is also for my upcoming class on Distress products.  I used the Technique Junkie Distress Spritzing technique for the background.  I love the way it is two toned.  So incredibly fast to make too!   The image from Hero Arts is colored with the Distress Ink Watercoloring technique from TJ.

It needed a little glitz so I gave it a little glitter on the flower and some gold dots of glitter on the MS punched butterfly.

I took the cards to the store for my samples and remembered that I hadn't photographed them at home.  Phone cameras aren't really that good.  At least on my camera.  The ribbon is really quite yellow gold....not bleached out like shown.

Hope you enjoy.

It has been quite distressing lately!

Distress ink that is!

Here is one of the two cards my class at Tigard Main Street Stamp and Stationery will be making in their Distress Ink class.

This one uses the Distress Ink Watercoloring technique on the image (from Stampendous!) and Distress Stain Dip on the background.

Quite fun how you can match your background colors to your image colors.  Love it!

Two for Hambo

Last week was a bit hectic and I didn't get to do the Hambo Challenge so this week I did two quick ones as birthday cards.  Our family has a ton of birthdays this time of year.  5 between Jan 29 and Feb 12.  So.......we celebrate as one big day.  This year it was to be on Super Bowl Sunday.  That was until the grandkids started to drop like flies with the recent fever flue going around.  Some of them have been down about a week.  Poor kiddos.  Anyway.......here are two of the five I made.   Both are colored with copics.

The inside of the bird one says, Happy Birthday, you ol' bird you!

The inside of the laughing one says "You HOW old?"  I had to extend the image just a little to reach the bottom of the oval.

In the Middle Cleanup

It is funny what you find when you are cleaning up your stamp room. My desk has a real nasty habit of piling up so today was the depiling day. I found the front of this card that I had made a few months back. Funny how it looks better today than the day I made it. That cool looking rose stamp isn't really a stamp at all. It is actually the cut off end of a bunch of celery. Isn't that cool? I used a Technique Junkie technique called in the middle.

The other thing I found on my desk while cleaning up was a project that was only half finished. I did an image trade with a friend and my images back to her have been delayed......a LONG time! I thought, Enough is enough!! I finished getting them stamped up and they will go with this card to her.

I hope that you enjoy!

Tweaked Challenge

Funny........I found this post in my "drafts"!  Even though it is from over 6 months ago.......I'll post anyway!!  Hahahaah

*******************************

I made this card for the challenge over at Splitcoaststampers for the sketch challenge.  The challenge called for a square cards but I really don't make square cards.  Postage is high and they take more paper too!  So, I altered and tweaked the challenge just a little.  I got the patterned paper from the scrap/stamp store in Eugene where I've been teaching and really, really LOVE it!

The little dots on the butterflies are Glitter dots and let me tell you......I LOVE glitter dots.  They are really fun.  The first project I used them on was the 3-D Valentine album that I posted earlier.  I taught that album at one of the class in Eugene.  As I was making it, some of those little dots would literally jump off their release page as I was using my tweezers to move them.  THEN in my class I was watching this lady put her glitter dots on her project.  She was placing them in record speed and NO popping off.  She showed me the tool that she was using and it is now my new FAVORITE tool for glitter dots.  AWESOME!  It is called the Quickstik, the quicker picker upper.  So......if you use pre-stuck jewels and/or stickers, this thing is THE coolest tool around in my opinion!

Okay......here is the card!

For Sale Visitors.

I love people who visit my blog just as much as the next person.  It is fun to see where people are from as well.  BUT because of so many comments being spam (which I moderate), I reluctantly have to put my comments back on to verification.  I had about 15 spam comments just today.  I really don't give a rip about buying drugs anywhere but my local pharmacy.  Nor do I want timeshares or adult entertainment paraphernalia.  Sorry to do it but I must!  Hope you all understand.

On the other hand, it is quite exciting to think you've had a visitor from Peru or some place in Africa!

Let it Snow!

Brrrrrrr.........we have been having weather that's been pretty cold lately.  If the clouds would have been laden with water we would have snow.....but no......    This card's sentiment of "Let It Snow!" is only partially a wish of mine.  I love to see it but really hate to drive in it.  This is a new technique from the Dec/Jan TJ newsletter called Inked Shadows.  It is hard to tell but those snowflakes are punched into the top layer.

Do you have snow where you live?

Inked Resist Kids

My title sounds like these kids just aren't going to get inky!  ;-)  Inked Resist is one of the techniques in the Dec/January 2013 Technique Junkie newsletter.  I've had this stamp for a while and it never saw ink.    The words are  from Stamp camp....... it is a wonderful 12 stamp set with lots of Bible sayings.  I really LOVE it!  The kids......maybe Innovative Stamp Creations OR maybe I Brake for stamps.....not sure.  I'm so bad at labeling them.

The last couple of days have been soooo pretty outside.  We have been fogged in for several days but it has been cold enough that the fog has been freezing on trees and plants.  We went around and took hundreds of photos around the house.  Here are a couple for your enjoyment!  The first flower is Vibunum Bodnantense.  It always blooms all December into January.  The whole bunch of flowers is about 1.5 in in diameter.

Here is some witch hazel.    I love the way the frost 'grew' down from the flowers.

Rhododendron smirnowii has been blooming since Christmas.  I think this frost will pretty much put it away.

Isn't the way the frost is on the leaves just beautiful?

Metallic Fridge

Here is my challenge card for the Hambo Hoedown this week.  We had a cute refrigerator to use with the instructions to use 'leftovers' with it.  My background is made out of recycled foil adhered to cardstock and run through embossing folders then swiped with StazOn pads.  I didn't like the red of the StazOn so I recolored that part with my copics.  The sentiment cut out is a die from Dinamics from My Favorite Things.  The ribbon was a small chunk from another project as well.  I originally thought the instructions were to use metallic....grrrrrr.....good thing it was a piece of leftover foil!
