One for the kids

Here is one of the Easter cards for my grandkids.  The image is from Dustin Pike colored with copics.  I used the 'out of the box' technique with the nestabilities.  I also used a technique from the Technique Junkie newsletter called Oil Pastel Gesso.  I can't say it is my favorite technique but it does give some cool backgrounds!  Enjoy!

On a side note.  Ray's Aunt Lavina passed away early this morning.  She was taken to the hospital on Friday afternoon after she has collapsed in their home.  Lavina was a sweet lady and will be greatly missed.   Her funeral will be sometime this week in Southern Oregon.

Happy Birthday Little Jim!

Yesterday was my oldest grandson's 3rd birthday.  Today is his party!  Yeah!!!  It will be so fun because at age 3 they finally REALLY 'get' the birthday thing!  We got him Flo's diner for his Geo Trax set.   He love his Geo Trax and the Cars movie.  Perfect match.  Here is the card that I made for him.  The image is from Dustin Pike and is colored with copics.  I just barely got my diamond plate cuttlebug folder which is below it.  I also used a EK Success border punch.  The 3 is punched out of a cuttlebug alphabet set from a paper covered coaster so it is fairly thick.  It looked a little lonesome without something behind it so I added the black background.  I hope Little Jim loves it!!

More bib cards!

This bib card is for a girl.....finally......I was getting tired of doing boy ones!  It took quite a while to finally have a design that I was happy with.  It used a Technique Junkie technique called Scrappy Spots but I tweaked it a little bit.  Some of the white spots (the little ones) are embossed with clear so the brayering wouldn't get them.  Since I wanted the spots white, I didn't color them before the brayering.  Stamps are from $ bin at Michaels (for the flowers and such).  The words are from Hambo.  I think this one really turned out very much like the bib, don't you?

Below is the last boy bib I needed to work on.  Don't worry about the wrinkles on the fabric......it hasn't been sewn yet!  The image is from Dustin Pike and colored with copics. The waves were made with a Souflee pen.   I also got to use my brand new Labels 5 dies!  Enjoy!

Here's the deal.....

Okay.......my card sale is coming up and my daughter, Leah, usually adds a few things to the 'for sale' stuff.  She has made Scrubbies out of nylon net for at least 6 years and she is getting quite a following.....people LOVE her scrubbies.  Hmmmm..........here is a thought.......let me know if you would like a scrubbie.  If you think it is a good idea, I'll offer one as a piece of blog candy for fun!!  Now....back to the story.  This year she is going to make baby bibs....we have a number of new babies coming at church.  So, I'm going to make cards to match the bibs and they will be sold 2 bibs and 1 card together as a gift.  Like the idea?  I hope that lots of people do.  So, here is the first card for the dino bib. The fabric is shown first and the card that I made to match it is below.   I'll be making about 6 different cards to match her fabrics.  The darling image on this card is by Dustin Pike and is a digital image.  It is colored with copic markers.

Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge 17!

Here is the card I made for the Priscilla Styles Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge 17. I think the last time I could play they were at SC8 or something like that! I've had this image colored up and waiting for me to make him into a card. I happened to grab the BG paper this morning then my glance fell upon the dragon. Hmmm........I think it would be a great match! Do you think so? I wish more of that DP showed as it is awfully pretty. The image is from Dustin Pike. He often gives away a free digital image on Wednesdays. You should head on over there now. The image is colored with copic markers. I was traveling with my husband, daughter and son-in-law. I often take my coloring with me. This day I was showing the image to my daughter and giving her the copic markers and letting her pick the colors. It is a fun way to move beyond your normal selections. We did that with about 6 images. There are some unusual combos!! The light dots on the dragon were made by holding the blender pen in one place over the colored image. The blender pen pushes the color away and leaves a lighter area....voila...spots! I made the spots on the kite the same way.

HEY!!! You have TWO (actually THREE) chances to win some blog candy. I am offering some blog candy on my Saturday's post of a cute unmounted (man with net). Leave a comment on Saturday's post to be entered in THAT giveaway. I'll be giving away TWO of these!! THEN there is the TJ blog hop. You don't have to be a TJ member to enter........follow the hop to find the treasure and post your answer on the last blog.

Birdie Van Gogh & Chalky Roses

Here are two cards that I did today. I had both images already colored up. Did them while driving to help my step-mom get ready for her move to Oklahoma. They are colored with copic markers. The Birdie Van Gogh card was colored using the Van Gogh technique from the Technique Junkie newsletter. I think this is a super fun technique besides, putting a name in front of the word Van Gogh makes it seem so sophisticated, don't ya think! And as a plus, I was able to use up some of the older scrapbook paper that I had! The image is from Dustin Pike. Can you tell.....I really do love his artwork!! The words are Hero arts.

The second card is Chalky Roses. The image was one that I THINK I stamped when I was at the copic class in May. Do I remember who did it...ahhhhh.....no. Sorry! This image was also colored in the car! The background paper is a technique called Marbelized Chalks, a technique from way back in 2004 from Technique Junkies.

Bright Bee

Here is another cute digi from Dustin Pike. Can you tell I love his drawing!! This was one of his first freebies. I've had it colored up for almost a month and finally got a chance to turn it into a card. The dewdrops are from Pinkhedgehog. Heidi has a ton a wonderful stuff and these dewdrops were really inexpensive. The bee was colored with copics (OH! Surprise!......NOT!) Art Supply Warehouse (aswexpress.com) had a great sale. 20% off your order over a certain amount. They have copic markers so I got more to add to my collection. The cost was less than $4 each with the sale and their shipping is only $6 for any size order. The only problem is that they don't list the marker by number but only by color. A royal pain if you ask me. You have to go to a different site that sells them to get the marker name then back to asw. There were a number that were out of stock but I guess that just means another order will have to happen!

Van Gogh Princess

Well....here is my take of the Technique Junkie Van Gogh technique. After I had three diffferent images colored, I decided that I liked it with dots instead of lines. Well......I'm going to make them into cards anyway....no use wasting all that coloring, right? This is a free digital image from Dustin Pike. This quirky little princess seemed right for the technique. The sparkly fiber is right for a princess too. One of these days I will be able to line the Martha Stewart punch correctly! Maybe I should be punching both pieces at the same time! How do you like to line them up? The image is colored with copic markers. I colored it whilst riding in the car on the way to Redmond....a three hour tour (gotcha singing Gilligan's Island now, don't I?) My step-mom moved back to Oklahoma and we went to pick up my step-brother at the airport. We also helped to pack the little U-Haul trailer with her things. We will miss being closer to her. She is 93. It will be fun to go back to Oklahoma to see her. We talked about going to the Mid-America meet with our Shelby next year.....it will be only 1.5 hour away from Gerry's new home. A visit to her is a great reason to go to the show as well.

Artful Sentiments Copic Challenge #13

Wow! It is hard to believe that this is Kimm's 13th challenge already! If you would like to see the other design team cards for this challenge, please click on the link to the right! My card uses a free digi from Dustin Pike's blog. I just love his dragons and there are a bunch of his other images that are way too cute! This week's colors are: B05, YG23,YR04 and any purple. I didn't have B05 so substituted B24 instead. I had the other markers and added V04. About the only place that I used the purple was to create the shadow on the dragon. To create the spots on the dragon I used the V04 again and held it in place to push the green out of the way. Hope you have enjoyed this little 'out of the box' dragon.

I have another dragon card that I did as well. The second dragon card was originally done as a blog hop for the Technique Junkie group. But the blog hop was postponed and I'll end up doing something different for the next time it is scheduled. So......As you can see it is another one of Dustin Pike's freebie dragons. The background behind the dragon is the Dragged Madras technique from the Technique Junkie newsletter. Instead of using a straight or torn edge for the technique I used a punched border instead. My friend, vicky Ward, came to my house for a technique play day. It was her idea to use the border punches instead and I think it really kicks the technique up a notch! The dragon on the second card was also colored with copics.
It was a busy day today. I had three of the four grandkids for most the day. Went to a cruise-in this evening. We didn't take the car but went to pass out flyers for our car club's cruise-in. It was really rainy today and I didn't feel like dragging out the car to wash it (since it was dirty). I also didn't want to put the car seats in the back seat of the Mustang. Helped my oldest granddaughter, Breauna, make a Father's day card for her daddy. She is starting to color to good now!

Copic Dragon

Here is a card that I did with some of the newer techniques I learned at the Copic Certification class. I colored the dragon with two very light colors of copics to start with. B000 and G00. I used the feathering technique to blend them. Then I added the darker green and blue colors. Once I am doing a little better with the feathering, I'll try it with darker colors. Marianne said that it is one of the hardest techniques to master. I think I agree with that!! The spots on the dragon AND the swirls and dots on the BG paper were made with the blender pen. It was really fun making the background paper. I sure love that blender pen now that I have learned how to use it to it's full potential. While we were in Bend/Redmond this last weekend, I took my pens along and colored up a bunch of images. Some are going for magazine submissions and some will end up here. This dragon was one that I worked on then. I thought that the dragon hump Fiskar scissors were a nice touch too! The image is a freebie from Dustin Pike's blog.
