Here is a wonderful technique from the Feb 2012 issue of the TJ newsletter. It is called Zen Stamping and it was really fun to do. I used a Hambo Valentine basket that had open hearts. After Zantangling the hearts, I shaded them with copic marker. Enjoy!

Golden Hambo Hoedown
This week the wonderful challenge over at the Hoedown (see link on sidebar) is to use Tim's darling little hamster with the pot of gold along with LOTS of gold. So, I took some metal and used the double metal embossing technique from the Technique Junkies newsletter and colored it gold. The bottom layer of paper is also a metallic gold......even though the camera did a "I can't see you number" on that layer. Sometimes things just don't seem to go right and today was one of those days. I got the card all assembled and THEN noticed that the numbers part of the double embossing on the metal were upside down. Sheesh! I'm NOT tearing it apart now! Then I topped it off with some told braid. There are a lot of layers on this little guy. See the picture below the card.

Two months is better than none!
Well........My 5 cards a week resolution made it two months before it was broken. Rats! BUT I babysat my grandson four days last week instead of two and I was just too tired. Not a very good excuse but I'm sticking with it! I'm still going to try to keep the resolution though. One broken week doesn't mean the rest of the year is a bust! Right?!!
Here is a card that I did for the Hambo Hoedown. This is such a fun challenge....you should really give it a try. Just click on their badge on my sidebar! Our challenge was to use this lion and one of the two sentiments that we were given. I thought I would do something different. I took the sentiment and made it into the background of the card. In retrospect I think I should have made the print smaller and repeated it more times. But that will have to wait for next time! We were also to include stripes somewhere, I did them on the lion's shirt! ;-)
I actually almost forgot this week! Hope you enjoy.

Hambo Hoedown Pelican
This is my card for the Hambo Hoedown this week. We received a free pelican digi......isn't he darling?!! Our color palette needed to contain, blue, brown and tan. I layered the pelican several times. Unfortunately I had my larger lights for taking pictures set up in a different room to film tutorials for the TJ newsletter so only had my little lights........not perfect but they sure gave the pelican a good shadow. The pelican and the BG are colored with copic markers. I gave the sand some texture and did the cloud treatment that Marianne Walker showed us the other day on her ilikemarkers blog. The sentiment was generated on my computer.

A fun one for a friend
An older lady at church normally gets cards from me at my yearly card sale. But last week at church she came to me with a special request. A funny card for a 70 year old man. Hmmmm..........well......I happened onto the Sketch challenge over at Hogs & Sketches (by Hambo Stamps) and I decided that I would participate. THEN I saw the card that Monica (one of Hambo's owners) made. Her sentiment was just perfect for an older man so I decided to use it with a little tweak of my own. Since I was using the freebie bongo Henry, the sentiment had to reflect him! The inside of the card says "Old!" ALSO, stolen from Monica. Thanks Monica for your inspiration! Henry is colored with copic markers. The 70 was hand drawn and colored in. I only had a quickly hand drawn sketch of this week's sketch.......I guess I reversed the sizes of the small circles......sorry!

Blog Candy Winners!!
Today is the day that I award the Blog Candy!! The winners will receive an unmounted stamp of the image shown on this card. Hambo is a stamp company that has THE most adorable pig images. Even though this stamp isn't a pig, it is every bit as darling!!

Watch the video.......we picked the winners a little differently this time!
Since Blogger takes REALLY long to upload my videos, I have posted it on YouTube. Here is the link:
My grandson, Zander, helped me this time......then you get to see the dogs too. They wouldn't stay put on the other side of the camera. The large poodle, Gabby, is mine and the small black one is my mom's....YoYo. My mom helped video....she should have come a little closer so you could have actually seen the names on the slips.....oh well. She almost got Zander's name wrong....oh my!
Our winners are: Cathy Yamashita (her blog entry) and Diane Klieger! I'll get a hold of you gals for your addys! Congratulations!!
So.......if any of you have Blog video tips for me, let me know. ;-)

BLOG CANDY!!!
WINNERS HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED AND THE BLOG CANDY CONTEST IS CLOSED. See the entry for Friday, Sept 4th for the winners!
I am so tickled that I have over 3,000 visits to my blog! So I decided that we should celebrate!
I was shopping (online) and happened across this darling unmounted stamp from Hambo. Doesn't it make the most darling card? Well.......it happened to be on sale and I decided that I would order three instead of one and share with my cyber friends! That's TWO winners. I'll post the video of the drawing on Friday.
Here's how you can enter!
1. Make a comment on this post (one entry)
2. Put a post on YOUR blog telling others about the candy (one entry). Include the link to your blog on your original comment to be counted!
Your name will go on a slip of paper and into a big bowl so even early posters have a great chance!
If you are "anomynous" in the comment area, please leave your e-mail addy. You can replace the @ and the . with words instead if you wish (i.e. mommy at msn dot com)
I will leave the candy contest open until September 4th, noon (Pacific Time).
The background on the card is called Simple Sumi and it is one of my favorite techniques from the Technique Junkie newsletters! It was colored with copic markers.
Enjoy!!
