Ann,

What a wonderful card and I would love to win the CD7. Thanks for giving us a chance.

Jackie Watson

Congratulations, Jackie!!  I'll be in touch with you via your e-mail.

Now on to a little Black Friday saga!  Our family usually goes to Bend where my Brother-in-law lives.  We all invade his house (which fortunately is large).......all 19 of us.  This year only a few of us went for the Black Friday sales.  We were up at 4:20 and out the door by 4:45am.  YAWN!!!!  I am not a morning person, so it killed me to get up at this hour.  First store to hit.....Shopko.  They had great deals and this year there were NO lines.  Can you believe that?  Last year we put a designated person in line when we got in the store because the lines were so long.  This year we walked right up.  They either managed the crowd better this year with more checkers or they just didn't have the crowd.  We did notice that there were lots of people LEAVING the store with carts of purchases about 2 minutes after the 5am open.  They must have opened early but only started to check at 5am.  That's the only reasoning we could come up with.

Since we exchange names with extended and immediate family we all knew who to shop for and got some wonderful deals.  I made $30 really stretch for two of our big and tall guys.  I happened to draw both of them!!  Hit Fred Meyer (Kroger) and they had wonderful sales and my daughter had a 30% off of 2 apparel items as well so I got a thick quilted flannel and a nice quarter zip pull over for less than $29 and a quarter zip pull over and two T-shirts for only $26.

We finally made it home at 3pm!!  It was a long day.  We had ended the day at Michaels.  They had a 25% off coupon that expired at 11am.  We got there at 10:45am and thought we would have 15 minutes to shop.  NO!!  If you had the greeter initial your coupon when you came in, they let you spend all the time you wanted.  Woo Hoo!!  I got some beautiful Christmas garlands to replace some of mine that were broken and weary.  Originally $10 a garland.........$3.75!!!!  Cool, huh?!!

The only bad part of the day was with my knee that I had fallen on the Friday before.  The day before Thanksgiving, when I was changing the bandage, the adhesive ripped off skin.  O U C H!!  So I had to resort to cutting the gauze pad off the bandage, putting in place, and keeping it there with an ace bandage.  It worked pretty good.  The big reason I was trying to keep it moist was that I still had a few small pieces of gravel in the wound that I was slowly getting out.  Well......on black Friday I wore the bandage and really didn't pay too much attention to it until we went to bed.  I guess I had wrapped it too tight.  I had a red rash on the front of my shin and the whole area was swollen.  Sheesh!  I knew it would swell up but hadn't even thought that the bandage was that tight.  It looks ugly right now but I'm finally without bandages.  Isn't the healing of the human body a marvelous thing?

Technique Junkie Blog Hop!!

Hello, blog hoppers!  So......didn't you just LOVE Beth's Decorated Pretties!  If you didn't arrive here as part of the TJ Blog Hop.....you will want to start HERE at the Technique Junkie Blog to collect all your 'treasures' to be eligible for the prize.  This month the prize will include special items you'll need to do some of the techniques in October's newsletter........Isn't that great!  Here is what is included:

- Pkg of Paperclay for Petroglyphic
- I jar of Smooch ink
- Micro Pearl Pearl Ex for Jeweled Acetate
- Glitter for PK Glitz Technique
- 3 Stamp Sets
AND a $10.00 Gift Certificate from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps

This is how the blog hop will work.  Start at the Technique Junkie Blog.  You will be collecting 'treasures' along the way.  At the very last blog, tell Pat your 'treasure' answer to be elibigle for a super prize.  Each blog will be featuring a sneak peak of one of the techniques from the October TJ newsletter AND an image or product from a Technique Junkie vendor.

I chose a technique that I happened to submit!  It is called Rubber Thwamping!  Isn't that a funny name?!  I really love the effect that it gives.  That darling show girl is from Two Nancy's Art Stamps.  I call her Lola.....I call any showgirl Lola....you know.... Barry Manilow's song!!  Now you are going to sing it all day, aren't you!  On my card I used four different colors of ink with the technique as well as some embossing, but the technique looks good with only one color too.  I also used the technique on the outer edges of the black base and embossed it with gold.  OH!  don't want to forget.....see that sparkley black layer under the image?  That paper is from the Paper Temptress.  It is just perfect to add that dark layer with a hint of gold sparkle.  You really NEED this paper!

PLEASE NOTE!!  BETH had the wrong code on her blog (just before me!).
Her code should be 'O'.

Oh! Yes!!  What is MY treasure for you?  My treasure is the letter 'W'.  Now, you will want to hop on over to Jane's blog HERE.

Below is the list of all the blogs on the hop....make sure you start at the beginning!

Blog Candy Winners!!

Today is the day that I award the Blog Candy!! The winners will receive an unmounted stamp of the image shown on this card. Hambo is a stamp company that has THE most adorable pig images. Even though this stamp isn't a pig, it is every bit as darling!!

Watch the video.......we picked the winners a little differently this time!

Since Blogger takes REALLY long to upload my videos, I have posted it on YouTube. Here is the link:

My grandson, Zander, helped me this time......then you get to see the dogs too. They wouldn't stay put on the other side of the camera. The large poodle, Gabby, is mine and the small black one is my mom's....YoYo. My mom helped video....she should have come a little closer so you could have actually seen the names on the slips.....oh well. She almost got Zander's name wrong....oh my!

Our winners are: Cathy Yamashita (her blog entry) and Diane Klieger! I'll get a hold of you gals for your addys! Congratulations!!

So.......if any of you have Blog video tips for me, let me know. ;-)

BLOG CANDY!!!

WINNERS HAVE BEEN ANNOUNCED AND THE BLOG CANDY CONTEST IS CLOSED. See the entry for Friday, Sept 4th for the winners!

I am so tickled that I have over 3,000 visits to my blog! So I decided that we should celebrate!

I was shopping (online) and happened across this darling unmounted stamp from Hambo. Doesn't it make the most darling card? Well.......it happened to be on sale and I decided that I would order three instead of one and share with my cyber friends! That's TWO winners. I'll post the video of the drawing on Friday.

Here's how you can enter!

1. Make a comment on this post (one entry)
2. Put a post on YOUR blog telling others about the candy (one entry). Include the link to your blog on your original comment to be counted!

Your name will go on a slip of paper and into a big bowl so even early posters have a great chance!

If you are "anomynous" in the comment area, please leave your e-mail addy. You can replace the @ and the . with words instead if you wish (i.e. mommy at msn dot com)

I will leave the candy contest open until September 4th, noon (Pacific Time).

The background on the card is called Simple Sumi and it is one of my favorite techniques from the Technique Junkie newsletters! It was colored with copic markers.

Enjoy!!

2 Days Left for Blog Candy and Artful Sentiments Copic Challenge

Don't forget to put in your comment on last Monday's post to be in the drawing for my blog candy!!

Now for the Artful Sentiments Copic Challenge card of the week. The Colors pictured here were kind of hard for me this week. My substitutes were okay but I just didn't feel too inspired!! The stamp I used is from Maryse Carrier. She used to be an artist for Magenta. I got a number of her designs when she was designing for herself. The background is a Technique called reinker splash. The colors were pretty soft but seemed to be just perfect for this week's challenge. I hop that you enjoy it! Join Kimm's challenge by clicking on the link to her blog to the right. I didn't have the exact colors but I came close. You can see my colors in the card pic.

We made a quick trip to Redmond on Thursday to spend a little time with my step-mom before she moves to Oklahoma on the 23rd. Don't know when we'll get to see her next.

BLOG CANDY!!!

Blog Candy contest is NOW CLOSED - Comments are turned off and I will draw the winner this morning! Thanks to all who entered. The winner was Susan Hackney!

Now that my blog hit 1500 views (woo hoo!) I decided to offer some blog candy. I made an order to Firecracker Designs by Pamela and I got two of one item. Pamela told me that I could offer the second one as some blog candy. If you think this is a great set, you're right!! Head on over to her site to see lots more!! Click here!

So.....here it is!!!

How can you enter to win?

#1 Make a comment on THIS post only. Please put your e-mail addy in the post (you can type it like this: myname at msn dot com. You get the idea..)

#2 Tell you friends! Tell them to make sure they mention your name in their post. When they do, I'll drop your name one more time into the hat.
You can recommend as many friends as you can BUT no cross entries. (i.e. Nancy recommends you and you recommend Nancy)

(Edited late on June 8, 2008) #3 Put an entry on your blog advertising my blog candy and I'll throw your name in the hat again for that too! Please post a link in your comment to your blog entry! (Pam, I have your name already for this!)

That makes a ton of ways you can get your name in the hat!!

I'm not going to do a computer generated pick as I wasn't sure how to factor in the extra entries. I'll video the name pulling. You are NOT limited on how many friends you recommend.

The candy will be awarded next Monday, June15th, shortly after noon PST. So start telling your friends!!

Love ya!

This cute little girl is colored with copics. She is from a stamp company called Love ya to Bits. I have no idea if they are even in business any more. The BG paper is some older patterned paper that I have been hoarding. The 'ribbon' is more like burlap and just seemed to work well for the image. One thing about the Labels Nestabilities.....I wish their nesting of these shapes was a small border. You end up doing creative things to make smaller borders but I wish it was easier like their circles and such. I got the little girl colored up while I was in the car a couple of weekends ago.

ALSO.......I will be having some blog candy in the near future!! I trying to work out the details so that I can offer people multiple entries and get the most visability for the vendor that gave it to me! More to come........

Ooo, Ooo, Ooo!!!!

Guess What!!?? I won some blog candy!! Marianne Walker's ilikemarkers blog just turned one year old this last week. Marianne had several other blogs hosting blog candy to help her celebrate. I signed up on several and happened to win the one hosted by Sharon Harnist. There were 845 people who signed up and Mr. Computer random number generator picked comment #434......me!! What was the candy? A set of caio Copic markers pictured here. Is that cool or what!! Maybe it was my praise to the computer gods by saying... "Ooo,eeee, aah, nee, aah, nee, wah, nee." Try it.....maybe it will work for you too! As much as I have using copics these puppies will get a lot of use at my house!!
Thank you Marianne! Thank you Sharon!! Here is Sharon's blog
You can click on my sidebar to get to the Ilikemarkers blog!
