As an avid reader of my youth, I find it somewhat sad that I rarely get to read now. I blame my inability to schedule my free time properly to this fact! While on vacation for two weeks, I happened to pick up a book in an information center at Parker's Crossing in Tennessee.
Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl (Dover Thrift
Editions). It was published in 1861. Since I had the opportunity to see "Roots" and movies like "The color Purple", I knew that the life of a slave wasn't easy BUT I had NO idea that it was as bad as it was described in her book. If you get a chance, read it. ;-)
