Faux Dorothy

Hi, Bloggers!  This week the technique of the week from Technique Junkies is Faux Embroidered Quilt.  It makes the background look soooo good!  I've used one of my newer favorite stamps from Technique Junkie Stamps (formerly Stamp Camp).  I thought this card could be good for those college students who are leaving home for the first time!  There indeed is no place like home!  The words were made using an alphabet stamp set from Hero Arts that I've had for at least 20 years!  Funny how just recently I've seen some stamp companies use this font for some of these stamps!  What goes around, comes around!  ;-)  Enjoy!

Waxy Window

This coming week the Technique of the week for Technique Junkies is Waxy Window.  So, I thought I'd start the week off with a fresh simple sample of Waxy Window.  I've been on a mission to try and use some of my stamps that have NSI.....Never Seen Ink!  I'm sure that some of you have this problem too!  The stamps are from Stampin' Up!  I know that they aren't new but they hadn't been used until today!  I wanted some colors that remind me of the later days of summer so picked a red flower with some orange in the design too.  A little hand drawing around the inner white border made the image pop out a little more.  Enjoy!

Gelli Fun

Today I dug out the 3 x 5 Gelli plate and decided that if I didn't have some fun with this new toy that I would put it off forever.  It was a lot of fun.  The Single small prints are mostly done using the Styrofoam plate cut out.  I'm just learning how to layer and it is obvious that I have a lot to learn.  Getting the right amount of paint on the plate seems to be one of my challenges.  I'm not sure it you should add a little to the paint to keep it wet longer or not.  I did find out that I could use lots more paints.  More Transparent ones.   On the journal page, I followed along with the video from the Gelli blog.  I didn't have the same colors or stencils but it did teach me some tricks so hopefully the next one will be a little more interesting.  Think I'll have to do some drawing on the journal page and maybe paint black around the images. 

Resisting a Dress

I'm here today with the technique of the week from Technique Junkies called Resist Strips.  I couldn't resist the little play on words for the title!  My goal today was to get some ink on stamps that never saw ink before.  The lady in the dress is from Rubbernecker stamps and the sentiment is from Just Rite Stamps.  The lady in the dress has been on my 'want' list for a long time and I finally got her.  The background stamp is from Love to Stamp.  I don't think the background stamp company is around anymore.   Hope you enjoy!  If I had this card to do over again, I would increase the width of the strips and darken up the shading around the lady so she would pop a little more from the background.

Paw Patrol Ombre

Saturday is my youngest grandson's birthday.  Zander is in love with Paw Patrol and I thought this week's technique called Ombre Frames would be perfect for the German Shepherd, Chase! I thought that it would be fun to have Chase popping out of the frame.  I cut the inside a little off center to accommodate the shield. Found a '6' already cut out for the front and some clipart for the dog and shield.  I hope that Z loves it!

Tea Box class

Another class I'll be teaching at Main Street Stamp and Stationery in Tigard, Oregon will make this darling Tea Box.  It is designed to hold the individually wrapped tea bags and is perfect for gift giving.  Fill it with your favorite teas and the recipient will be thrilled!  The photos below do not show the DARLING charms that will hang off to the side of the top.  They are a little tea pot and a tea bag.  Don't miss this class.  Next Tuesday, July 29, from 11am - 1pm.  Cost is $15.  Call Main Street today and reserve your spot.  503) 639-3180.    The papers on each box will differ from the photos.

Bird Cage Beauty

Here are pictures for my upcoming class at Main Street Stamp and Stationery in Tigard, Oregon.  The class will include all the materials needed to make this unique votive holder pictured below.  It features Tim Holtz's Metal Box corners.  Their weight and design really class up this project!

OFFICIAL!!

In April my car club celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang by holding an event to break two Guinness World Records.  One for the most Fords in a parade and the other for the Most Ford Mustangs in a parade.

Well.........Guinness has responded to our documentation and it is official........WE HAVE ESTABLISHED TWO NEW WORLD RECORDS!!!!!!   This is really BIG news!! 

We had a total of 829 Fords in our parade and a total of 766 Mustangs.

Yippee!!!!   Yippee for all the participants and Yippee for Mt Hood Mustangs and Fords Club for undertaking this HUGE project!!

Cross Stitch

Do any of you cross stitch.  I have a LOT of aida cloth and lovely patterns for flowers, Christmas and more.   My eyes just can't do this small work anymore.  If you think you might be interested, let me know and I'll send you a list of everything and make you a good deal!

Crinkled Retirement

Here is a card I made using the technique of the week from Technique Junkies.  This is such a fun and easy technique.  As a designer, I get to do the techniques about 6 weeks before you do but I hadn't tried this one yet.  If you haven't given it a try, you really must!  The image is from Art Impressions and the words are Stampin Up.  I made this for a dear friend who just retired.  The image is colored with copics.  As you can see I also used Out of the box technique too!  Enjoy!

Wanna Come?

Next Tuesday, July 8th, at Main Street Stamp and Stationery store in Tigard, Oregon, I'll be instructing to do the birthday set below.  The class will be from 6pm to 8pm.  You'll make the card, the tag and the darling little votive birthday cake.  Isn't that birthday cake darling?!    You'd need to bring your favorite adhesive, plus some glue dots, and your favorite watercolor medium.  I used Tim Holtz's Distress markers and a water brush to color the roses in the sample.   All the rest of the supplies will be provided.  Class cost is $15.  Hope to see you there!

Technique of the Week

Here!  This week the Technique Junkie technique of the week is Splattered Ombre Watercolors.  I thought the orange background would be perfect for the Elizabeth Craft daisy outline.  It is color with copics.  enjoy!     This technique is from the Technique Junkie July newsletter.  You can find out more about the TJ Newsletter by clicking HERE.   If you look real close you can see all the beautiful glitter on the daisy area.  ;-)

Here is a couple of cards using the Embossed Colored pencil technique from the current issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter.  I wish that you could see the shine because it is really pretty!.  The leaves are from Inkadinkado and the words on the first card are from Sweet N Sassy Stamps.

 

 

 

The image on the second card is from I brake for Stamps.  The die on the background is from Memory Box and it is a fun one to use rhinestones or in this case, little pearls.   ENJOY!

Artistic Effects now available!

I couldn't choose just one project so I did three! 

 

The first card features a technique called Acrylic Stains.  This is one of those fast and easy techniques that you always have to have in your arsenal.  I've had this cute stamp set from Stampendous for over a year and I thought it was about time to use it.  Summer has FINALLY arrived for most of us.  Winter hung on for sooooo long that I wanted to celebrate with this cute set. 

 

My next project uses the super cool technique called Goosed Gelatos.   I love how random and layered the colors are for the background.  The stamp is from a set from Mark's Finest Papers company.  The sentiment is from SU.  It is colored with Copics.   I have to tell you a little secret about my Gelatos.  FaberCastell makes Gelatos.  You can pay about $9.99 for 4 of them.  BUT, if you go into the kid's section of the art store, there are 10 of them for about $10.  That is a much nicer price.  The Frugal Crafter blog did a test to see if they performed like the more expensive ones and she couldn't see much difference! 

 My last project is probably my favorite of the three.  It features a technique called Acrylic Gesso.  This technique can use a black silhouette stamp but I just didn't want to do black so I drug out my Colorbox cubes......these haven't seen the light of day for years!  The stamp set.........I have no clue.  I store all my unmounted stamps in CD cases and this set was stored before I thought it was important to know the manufacturer!  If you happen to know, let me know!
